Run a Saturday night bar shift with responsible service
You are a Bar Attendant on the Saturday evening shift in Quay Bar.
What is going on
Saturday night in Quay Bar has a 30th birthday group of 25 arriving at 8:00 pm, a corporate group dining in Tidewater and steady hotel guest traffic. The Bar Supervisor is on with you. The Restaurant and Bar Manager wants the bar set up to standard, cocktails and standard drinks poured correctly, identification checked for anyone who looks under 25, and any refusal of service handled politely and recorded in the WHS register the same night. Eleven staff have RSA certificates expiring soon and the manager is watching service standards closely.
Subject: Saturday night in Quay Bar and the RSA log
You are on the bar Saturday night with Liam. There is a 30th birthday group of 25 booked from 8:00 pm and a corporate group in the restaurant. I want you across the Responsible Service of Alcohol Policy before the shift: standard drinks, identification checks, signs of intoxication and how we refuse politely. Any refusal goes into the WHS register that night with the time and what you saw. Set up the bar, run the service and complete the end of shift reconciliation.
Your brief
Set up and operate the bar for the shift, apply the Responsible Service of Alcohol Policy to every sale including one refusal role played by your assessor, record the refusal correctly, and complete the end of shift stock and cash reconciliation.
Work through it
You do not need to do it all. Doing a few of these will show you what the work is like. Your ticks and notes stay on this device.
What someone in this role would produce
- WHS register entry for the RSA refusal
- End of shift reconciliation note
- Assessor observation checklist for service and refusal
- Bar set-up checklist
Printing this is a record of what you explored. It is not a certificate or a qualification.
