Lead the fashion team through the spring launch fortnight

What is going on

Kai Tanaka is on leave from 15 September and Marcus Bellingham has asked you to act as Fashion Store Manager through the spring launch weekend. The store has two new team members who need coaching on selling and the refunds procedure, a public social media complaint under investigation, a shoulder injury in the incident register with actions still open, and a launch weekend roster that must meet the General Retail Industry Award rules on breaks, penalty rates and minimum shifts. The weekly team briefing is on Monday. Marcus wants a call each Wednesday and a handover note for Kai at the end of the fortnight.

Your brief

Lead the team for the fortnight: run the weekly briefing, coach the new team members, finalise a compliant launch roster, close the open incident actions, resolve the social media complaint and hand over to Kai with a clear record of decisions and results.

• Read the WHS policy, the customer service and respectful behaviour policy, the refunds procedure and the team briefing record template, and review the roster and training matrix for the fashion team.
• Plan and run the Monday team briefing covering last week's results, the launch promotions, a safety topic on stockroom manual handling, the social media complaint and training due, and record it on the template.
• Coach the two newest team members on selling and on the consumer guarantee rules for refunds, using the sale shoe return as a case study, and record the coaching in the training matrix.
• Build the launch weekend roster in the roster system, meeting break, minimum shift, penalty and leave rules, and confirm it with each team member before publishing.
• Investigate the social media complaint using the roster and CCTV notes, respond privately to the customer, and close the entry in the customer feedback register with the outcome.
• Close the open actions for the shoulder injury in the WHS incident register by relocating heavy cartons to waist height and confirming the step ladder position, and record the completion.
• Hold a short check-in with each team member during the fortnight about wellbeing and workload, and note any follow-up in your handover.
• Write the handover note for Kai and a two-paragraph update for Marcus summarising results, people matters, incidents and decisions made.
