Receive and condition the Monday grower delivery
You are the Stock Assistant at the Cremorne workroom.
What is going on
It is 6:30 on Monday morning at the Cremorne workroom. Two grower deliveries are due within the hour: Yarra Valley Blooms with garden roses, David Austin roses, snapdragons and eucalyptus, and Dandenong Natives with waratah, kangaroo paw, banksia and flowering gum. The Buying and Stock Coordinator is at the wholesale market and has asked you to receive both deliveries alone. The receival bench needs preparing, the cool room opening temperature has not been taken, and the workroom benches start production at 8 am and will be pulling from this stock. Last week a bunch of imported roses arrived with botrytis and a claim had to be lodged, so condition grading matters.
Subject: Monday grower delivery needs receiving at Cremorne
The Yarra Valley Blooms and Dandenong Natives deliveries arrive at Cremorne between 6:30 and 7:30 tomorrow morning and I will still be at the market. I need you to receive both, count them against the orders, grade the condition, condition every line and get the buckets labelled and into cool room 1 in date order. Use the Stock Receival and Condition Check Form for each delivery and then enter both in the Stock Intake and Cool Room Log. Photograph anything you grade C so I can lodge a claim. Please also do the opening temperature reading while you are in there.
Your brief
Receive both deliveries correctly: prepare the bench and buckets, count and inspect every line, grade condition, condition and label every bunch, store it in cool room 1 in date order, record the opening temperature, and complete the forms and register entries so that a supplier claim can be lodged if needed.
Work through it
You do not need to do it all. Doing a few of these will show you what the work is like. Your ticks and notes stay on this device.
What someone in this role would produce
- Two completed Stock Receival and Condition Check Forms
- Three entries in the Stock Intake and Cool Room Log (temperature plus two deliveries)
- A conditioning treatment list for the five flower types
- A handover note to the Buying and Stock Coordinator
Printing this is a record of what you explored. It is not a certificate or a qualification.
