What is going on

Silverstride Duchess is due to foal around 18 September 2026 and has been moved to foaling paddock 1 with an alarm fitted. You start the night roster on Monday 14 September. The gate latch on paddock 2 is faulty and has been reported in the Incident and Hazard Register, so paddock 2 cannot be used. The foaling kit must be checked against the list, the on-call veterinarian arrangements confirmed, and two-hourly checks recorded. The Stud Manager expects the stud foaling book and the Horse Register completed within the shift of any foaling, and every problem reported immediately.

Duchess is due around 18 September and you are on the night foaling roster from Monday. Read the Foaling Procedure end to end, check the foaling kit in the paddock 1 shed against the list, and make sure the alarm is fitted and tested. Log the two-hourly checks in the Horse Register with udder and behaviour notes. The gate latch on paddock 2 has been reported as faulty, so use paddock 1 only until it is fixed. Call me and the on-call veterinarian at the first sign of trouble, do not wait.
