Prepare for and complete the Goldreef CV-07 belt splice
You are the second technician on a two-person site splicing crew.
What is going on
Conveyor CV-07 at Goldreef Mining Services, a 1,200 millimetre four ply fabric belt, needs a hot vulcanised step splice on Tuesday under job card JC-26-3320. The crew leader wants you to prepare the job: the splice and step lengths from the splice table, the kit, cement and press, the Job Safety Analysis and the customer's isolation and permit arrangements. One cement lot is quarantined and must not be used. Two weeks ago at the same site the customer's isolation was found on the wrong drive and the crew leader caught it at the isolation test. A warranty repair on another splice traced to an edge that was not fully cured is also fresh in everyone's mind.
Subject: Goldreef CV-07 splice on 16 September
We are booked to splice conveyor CV-07 at Goldreef on Tuesday, a 1,200 millimetre four ply belt with a hot vulcanised step splice. You are coming as my second. I want you to prepare the job under the Hot Vulcanised Fabric Ply Belt Splice Procedure: work out the splice length and step lengths from the table, list the kit, cement and press we need, check the cement lot in the stock system because one lot is quarantined, write the Job Safety Analysis and make sure we have the customer's isolation and permit arranged. Remember what happened at CV-04 with the wrong drive isolated.
Your brief
Prepare the CV-07 splice job to the Hot Vulcanised Fabric Ply Belt Splice Procedure, including the splice geometry, kit and chemical checks, the Job Safety Analysis and the customer isolation arrangements, then carry out and record the splice on site with the crew leader, verifying isolation before applying personal locks and curing to the compound data sheet.
Work through it
You do not need to do it all. Doing a few of these will show you what the work is like. Your ticks and notes stay on this device.
