Receive and store the sand and polymer deliveries

What is going on

Tuesday morning brings two deliveries within an hour of each other. A tipper arrives with 28 tonnes of graded sand for the raw material bay and a curtainsider arrives with 12 pallets of redispersible polymer powder on purchase order PO-26-2288. The sand delivery docket shows 27.4 tonnes. Two of the polymer pallets have torn stretch wrap and one bag on the top layer is split. The polymer store has room for ten pallets and the remaining two would need to go to the overflow area near the diesel tank, which the hazardous chemicals register says is not allowed. Jarrah Coulthard is on the forklift and Lucy Anand wants the stock records updated before lunch.

Your brief

Receive both deliveries safely, inspect them against the purchase orders and specifications, record lot numbers and quantities, resolve the shortfall and damage correctly, store the materials in compliant locations and update the stock records so the records match what is on the ground.

• Read the raw material receipt section of the quality policy and the storage and segregation section of the hazardous chemicals register before either truck is unloaded.
• Direct each truck to the correct unloading point, confirm the exclusion zone for pedestrians and check that the tipper is on level ground before tipping.
• Check the sand delivery docket against the purchase order and the weighbridge ticket, record the shortfall and report it to Lucy Anand for follow-up with the supplier.
• Inspect the polymer pallets, record the supplier lot numbers, quarantine the damaged bag under the nonconformance procedure and photograph the damage for the supplier claim.
• Decide where the twelve polymer pallets will be stored so that the combustible dust storage requirements are met, and consult Jarrah Coulthard about safe stacking.
• Record the received quantities, lot numbers and locations on the stores receipt sheet, log each lot as a raw material receipt check in the quality test register and mark the damaged bag as held.
• Raise a hazard or nonconformance record for anything you found that needs action, such as the overflow storage constraint.
