Install frameless shower screens at the Doncaster apartments

What is going on

Kinross Property Developments has 24 frameless shower screens to be installed across levels 2 to 4 of a Doncaster apartment building over three days starting Friday 18 September. The panels are 10 millimetre toughened glass and were released from the Bayswater plant after a batch label check on 15 September. The builder has booked the lift for the crew from 7:00 am. Some bathrooms have stone floors and freshly grouted tiles, and the plumber is still working on level 4. Darren Whitlock wants the job safety analysis done with you on the first morning and every panel checked for its compliance label before it leaves the plant. A crack in transit last week has made load restraint a live topic.

Your brief

Complete the site induction and job safety analysis, confirm each panel is labelled and undamaged, move the panels safely from the truck to each bathroom, install the screens plumb and sealed to the drawings and the Australian Standard for glass in buildings, and record induction, job safety analysis and handover in the installation schedule.

Work through it

You do not need to do it all. Doing a few of these will show you what the work is like. Your ticks and notes stay on this device.

• Read the glass handling procedure and check every panel for JO-26-1055 for its compliance label and edge condition before loading, recording the check in the job order notes.
• Secure the panels on the truck glass frame with straps and corner protection, and carry out the ten minute load recheck on the way to site.
• Complete the builder's site induction and then complete the job safety analysis template with Darren Whitlock for the first day's work.
• Walk and clear the route from the truck to the first bathroom, then move each panel with two people and the glazing trolley in the lift.
• Install the first screens plumb and level using the hinges, channels and seals in the job pack, checking clearances and drilling into tiles with dust control.
• Inspect each installed screen for alignment, door swing and sealant finish, and clean up glass fragments and packaging from each bathroom.
• Update the installation schedule record for JO-26-1055 with induction and job safety analysis completion and the number of screens installed on day one.
