Build a compliant October roster for the passenger ferry

What is going on

Bluewater Tern runs a scheduled harbour service and charters carrying up to 60 passengers with a minimum crew of a master and two general purpose hands. In October, Renee Solomon is on leave for two weeks, the school program brings full passenger loads on three days, and the port open day on 25 October adds six public cruises. Marco Vitale's medical expires on 31 October and Iain Fraser's on 5 November. The Fitness for Duty policy sets minimum rest hours and the certificate of operation sets the minimum crewing. Jules Marchand needs the roster built and checked against the Crew Roster and Certification Matrix, letters to the two crew about their medicals, and any shift that cannot be crewed flagged to the Marine Operations Manager.

Build an October roster for Bluewater Tern that meets the minimum crewing on every shift, uses only crew whose certificates and medicals are current on the day, complies with the rest hour limits, covers the school and open day peaks, and identify gaps and the cost of covering them, with letters drafted to the two crew about their medicals.

• Read the Fitness for Duty, Drug and Alcohol Policy rest hour limits and the Safety Management System Policy on crewing, and confirm the minimum crew for Bluewater Tern from the Fleet and Vessel Register.
