What is going on

The health and safety committee meets on 16 September and Helena Marsh wants a documented safety walk of the press room and bindery beforehand. Open items in the Incident and Hazard Register include a rattling extraction hood over the B2 washup station, a courier walking through the forklift zone, and the folder gluer guard damage. The Hazardous Chemicals Register was last reviewed in April and the press room store has had new deliveries since. The walk must produce a ranked list of risks and recommended actions that the committee can assign to owners, and the findings must reference the relevant policies and procedures.

Helena Marsh, General Manager
Subject: Safety walk before the September committee meeting

Before the health and safety committee meets on 16 September I want a documented safety walk of the press room and bindery. Check the open items in the Incident and Hazard Register, look at the extraction hazard Tom raised, confirm the chemical storage matches the Hazardous Chemicals Register and note anything new. Bring me a short written report with the risks ranked and the actions you recommend so the committee can assign owners.

Your brief

Plan and carry out a safety walk of the press room and bindery, verify the open register items and the chemical storage, identify new hazards, rank the risks and prepare a short written report with recommended actions for the committee.

Work through it

You do not need to do it all. Doing a few of these will show you what the work is like. Your ticks and notes stay on this device.

What someone in this role would produce

  • Walk checklist built from the documents
  • Findings record with new register and log entries
  • Risk ranked action list
  • Committee report

Printing this is a record of what you explored. It is not a certificate or a qualification.
