What is going on

Bao Tran has two jobs for you this week. The first is the red tag round: the Op Shop Donation Sorting and Pricing Procedure says anything on the floor for four weeks or more is reduced by half and marked with a red tag, and every tag shows the date it went out. Today is 17 September. The second is the committee report. The committee wants to see the last four weeks of op shop sales and the number of donation bags sorted each week in a simple table and a bar chart. The figures are in the Cafe and Shop Daily Log and on the daily sheets: sales of $1,980, $2,240, $2,150 and $2,410, and bags sorted of 105, 132, 120 and 141.

Bao Tran, Op Shop Coordinator
Subject: Red tag round and the weekly sales sheet

Two jobs for you at the shop this week. First, the half price red tag round: check the date on every tag on the clothing racks and put a red tag on anything that has been out for four weeks or more, working out the new price. Second, I need the weekly sales and bags sorted numbers put into a simple table and a bar chart for the committee report. The numbers are in the Cafe and Shop Daily Log. Read the Op Shop Donation Sorting and Pricing Procedure before you start on the racks.

Your brief

Work through the clothing racks, identify stock that has been out for four weeks or more, work out and write the half price on a red tag, then put the four weeks of sales and bags sorted into a clear table and bar chart with a short written summary for the committee.

Work through it

You do not need to do it all. Doing a few of these will show you what the work is like. Your ticks and notes stay on this device.

What someone in this role would produce

  • Red tag price calculations with working shown
  • Daily sheet entry and Task Board update
  • Sales and bags sorted table
  • Bar chart with title, axes and scale
  • Short written summary for the committee
