Restore flight simulator FS-02 to service
You are a Simulator Technician at the Oakey workshop.
What is going on
Flight simulator FS-02 was withdrawn from training this morning with a fault on the pitch actuator of the motion system. The customer has a full training day booked tomorrow and the contract requires a priority 1 response within four hours. A spare actuator is on site. Ahmed Saleh raised the work order and completed the initial fault diagnosis before being called to another job. Entering the motion envelope is high risk work and the motion base must be pinned and the hydraulic supply isolated before anyone goes underneath. Fiona Kaczmarek wants the repair done, tested and recorded so the availability figures in the monthly report are supported.
Subject: FS-02 pitch actuator, need it back in training tomorrow
FS-02 has been withdrawn since this morning with a pitch actuator fault and the customer has a full training day booked tomorrow. The spare actuator is on site. Please take the work order from Ahmed, confirm the isolation and pin the motion base before you enter the envelope, complete the job safety analysis, replace the actuator and run the functional test in the work instruction. Record the parts, the test result and your time on the work order and let me know the moment it is ready for the operator confirmation run.
Your brief
Take over the open work order, plan and carry out the actuator replacement safely, test the motion system against the acceptance criteria in the work instruction, and close the work order with a complete record of parts, tests and time so the simulator can be returned to training.
Work through it
You do not need to do it all. Doing a few of these will show you what the work is like. Your ticks and notes stay on this device.
What someone in this role would produce
- Completed Job Safety Analysis
- Updated and closed work order record
- Functional test record
- Written report of the outage period
Printing this is a record of what you explored. It is not a certificate or a qualification.
