Plan, conduct and report the DS-01 in-service test

What is going on

Driver simulator DS-01 has received a terrain database update that changes the training area models used for driver training. The customer requires a test and evaluation report before the simulator returns to training, and the report is a paid deliverable in the Contract Deliverables Tracker due on 16 October. The modification work order is in progress. Fiona Kaczmarek wants a test plan approved by the customer before testing starts, then structured test runs covering each terrain area and vehicle type, data captured against acceptance criteria, analysis of the results and a formal report in the contract format. Any defect found must be raised as a work order and reported honestly.

Your brief

Plan the DS-01 in-service test, conduct the test runs and capture data, analyse the results against the acceptance criteria and produce a test and evaluation report that the customer can rely on, keeping the work order and tracker records current throughout.

• Read the Maintenance Work Order Procedure and the DS-01 modification work order, then confirm with Fiona Kaczmarek the acceptance criteria the customer expects.
• Write the test plan with objectives, scope, test cases for each terrain area and vehicle type, data to capture, acceptance criteria, roles, schedule and safety requirements, and record its submission in the tracker.
• Complete a Job Safety Analysis for operating the simulator in test mode with the cab occupied and the motion system live.
• Conduct the test runs, capture the data as planned and record any deviation from the plan with the reason.
• Analyse the data against each acceptance criterion and classify every defect found by its effect on training.
• Raise a corrective work order for the defect found in one terrain sector and link it in the report.
• Write the test and evaluation report in the contract format with findings, recommendation on return to training and the evidence appendix, and update the tracker record to Submitted.
