Condition report and install an exhibition
You are the Exhibitions Officer in Gallery and Exhibitions.
What is going on
Surface Tension brings together six ceramic artists and opens on 2 October. Installation runs from 29 September, three works have yet to arrive, and the Production Risk Assessment for the install is not signed. The works include heavy glazed wall panels that need rated fixings, a floor installation of 300 tiles with an uneven surface, raku vessels with fragile surfaces and a work with an existing hairline crack recorded on its incoming report. One artist's panels come with a cultural protocol note about handling and photography. The elevated work platform was used without its pre-start checklist last week and a hazard entry is open in the WHS register.
Subject: Surface Tension install starts 29 September
Installation of Surface Tension runs 29 September to 1 October with the opening on the 2nd. Three works have not arrived yet and the risk assessment is not signed. I need you to complete the incoming condition reports as works arrive, update the Artwork and Loans Register, draft the Production Risk Assessment for the install including the elevated work platform and the floor installation, and set out the hanging plan with access paths of one metre. Kirra Wallace-Munro's panels have a cultural protocol note you must read first.
Your brief
Complete the incoming condition reports and register entries as works arrive, draft and have signed the Production Risk Assessment for the install, and produce a hanging and floor plan with fixings, access paths and interpretation placement that meets the Artwork Handling, Condition Reporting and Installation Procedure and the cultural protocol note.
Work through it
You do not need to do it all. Doing a few of these will show you what the work is like. Your ticks and notes stay on this device.
What someone in this role would produce
- Three incoming condition reports and updated register entries
- Signed Production Risk Assessment
- Hanging and floor plan with fixings and access paths

Printing this is a record of what you explored. It is not a certificate or a qualification.
