What is going on

The Night Music season for Northbank Chamber Orchestra bumps into the black box theatre at 8 am on Monday 14 September with six crew. The production risk assessment is signed and the Stage and Lighting Technician is leading the overhead rig. Chain hoist 3 is tagged out after a worn hook latch was found and the Equipment Test and Tag Register shows nine items overdue for testing. Your tasks are the floor package, running temporary power for the stage monitors and assisting with focus. Opening night is Wednesday and a full evacuation drill will run during Tuesday's technical rehearsal.

Brooke Ashcroft, Production Manager
Subject: Night Music bump in Monday, you are on crew

You are rostered on the Night Music bump in from 8 am Monday 14 September in the theatre, six crew, Amir leading the rig. Read the Bump In and Bump Out Procedure and the production risk assessment before you arrive and come to the toolbox talk with questions. Your tasks are the floor package, running the temporary power for the stage monitors, and helping focus. Chain hoist 3 is tagged out so do not use it. Report anything untagged straight to Amir.

Your brief

Take part in the bump in under the Bump In and Bump Out Procedure: attend the toolbox talk, complete your allocated floor, power and focus tasks safely in the correct sequence, check every item of equipment you use for a current test tag, and report anything unsafe on the day.

Work through it

You do not need to do it all. Doing a few of these will show you what the work is like. Your ticks and notes stay on this device.

What someone in this role would produce

  • Toolbox talk questions and signed attendance
  • Completed floor and power tasks checked against the plan
