Review the crew roster against fatigue and currency limits

What is going on

The draft October crew roster is due for publication on 28 September. In September a cabin crew member reported fatigue on the fourth day of a duty block after a roster change reduced rest to the minimum, logged as SR-26-0143, and two pilots and one senior cabin crew member have checks expiring in October. The Head of Flying Operations wants a written review of the draft roster against the Fatigue Risk Management Policy limits, an analysis of where September roster changes reduced rest, and a check that nobody is rostered beyond a check expiry in the Crew Training and Qualification Records. The review must recommend changes and explain how crews will be briefed so that the published roster is both compliant and accepted.

Hamish Ferreira, Head of Flying Operations
Subject: October roster review and the fatigue report

The draft October crew roster is ready and I want a second set of eyes on it before it is published on the 28th. Check it against the Fatigue Risk Management Policy limits, look at where roster changes in September reduced rest to the minimum, and review the fatigue report SR-26-0143 with Priyanka's notes. I want a written review that identifies any roster lines at risk, the changes you recommend and how you would brief the crews. Currency records also need checking so that nobody is rostered beyond a check expiry.

Your brief

Check the draft roster against the fatigue policy limits and the currency records, review the September fatigue report and roster change approvals, identify roster lines at risk, recommend specific changes and prepare a briefing note for crews.

Work through it

You do not need to do it all. Doing a few of these will show you what the work is like. Your ticks and notes stay on this device.

What someone in this role would produce

  • Roster review report
  • List of roster lines at risk with recommended changes
  • Currency check results
  • Crew briefing note

Printing this is a record of what you explored. It is not a certificate or a qualification.
