What is going on

Section D of the parts warehouse is due for its quarterly cycle count and the oil filter shelf has dropped below minimum for the second month running. At the same time a customer's vehicle is off the road on RO-26-4488 waiting for a back-ordered turbo actuator, and the service advisors have not had an update. The Parts and Accessories Manager wants the count done before the trade rush, variances over 200 dollars brought to him for approval, and the back order list worked through with clear communication to the service team. The Parts Ordering and Stock Control Procedure sets the counting rules, including counting the bin before looking at the system quantity.

Liam Farrugia, Parts and Accessories Manager
Subject: Cycle count section D and the back order list

Section D bins are due for their quarterly count and the oil filter shelf is below minimum again. Please count D-10 to D-20 tomorrow morning before the trade rush, record variances with reasons in the Parts and Stock system and bring me anything over 200 dollars to approve. Then go through the back order list and update the service advisors on the actuator for RO-26-4488. The Parts Ordering and Stock Control Procedure has the count rules.

Your brief

Count bins D-10 to D-20 accurately, record and explain variances, raise the stock order for items below minimum, update every back order with a supplier date, and inform the service advisors about the vehicle-off-road part so the customer can be updated.

Work through it

You do not need to do it all. Doing a few of these will show you what the work is like. Your ticks and notes stay on this device.

What someone in this role would produce

  • Written update to the service advisors

Printing this is a record of what you explored. It is not a certificate or a qualification.
