What is going on

Drop deck semi-trailer WO-26-0420 for Northgate Truck Centre is in final inspection and due for delivery on 18 September. The rear overhang measured 20 mm over the drawing dimension and non-conformance NCR-26-092 is open pending an engineering review. The Quality and Compliance Manager wants the full compliance checklist and functional tests completed to the procedure, the weighbridge and post assembly service done, the road test carried out and the compliance file compiled for the plating authorisation. The trailer must not be plated until the overhang non-conformance has a signed disposition. Rework on the cross member welds and the missing torque paint has been verified.

• Read the Final Inspection and Pre-delivery Procedure and the Heavy Vehicle Standards and Compliance Policy and confirm from the Work Orders and Build Tracker and the Non-Conformance Register that the entry conditions are met, noting the open NCR-26-092.
• Complete the design rule checklist for a tri-axle drop deck trailer using the measurements supplied by your assessor, recording each item as compliant or not compliant with the measured value.
• Record the weighbridge results for tare and axle group masses and compare them with the design limits and the customer's intended use.
• Describe the functional tests you will carry out on lighting, brakes, landing legs, ramps and couplings and record the results supplied.
• Plan the post assembly service and the road test, including the route, the checks and the record on the work order.
• Assess NCR-26-092 using the engineering advice supplied and recommend a disposition to the Quality and Compliance Manager, explaining the design rule implication of the extra overhang.
• Compile the compliance file index listing every document and record required before the plating authorisation and identify anything still missing.
• Propose one improvement to the final inspection process using the Continuous Improvement Proposal Template based on what you found.
