What is going on

Ashgrove Estate Developments has engaged Greenfield to build the landscape for a display home on Lot 14: a timber and block retaining wall, paved entertaining area, irrigation, turf and planting to a designer's drawings and specification. The quote was accepted at a fixed price with variations to be approved in writing. The site has underground services along the front boundary, a neighbouring occupied home, and a tight three-week program before the estate's open weekend. A three-person crew, a mini excavator and a compactor are allocated. You are supervising from set-out to handover.

The Lot 14 display home landscape for Ashgrove starts on 14 September under WO-26-0414 and I want you to supervise it. Read the drawings and specification, set out the site, complete a Job Safety Analysis Form with the crew for the retaining wall and paving, confirm the services locations, and schedule materials and plant through the Plant and Equipment Register. I want a daily progress inspection on the Site Inspection Report Template and a cost tracking sheet against the quote. Any variation goes to the client in writing before we do the work.

Your brief

Plan, set out, supervise and document the project: complete the job safety analysis, confirm services, schedule crew, plant and materials, inspect progress daily against the drawings, track costs against the quote and manage any variation with the client in writing.

Read the drawings and specification in the work order WO-26-0414 notes, the Work Health and Safety Policy and the Job Safety Analysis Form, and list the high risk steps in the project.
Complete a Job Safety Analysis Form with the crew for excavation, retaining wall and paving, including services locations, exclusion zones, plant operation and manual handling controls.
Set out the site from the drawings: establish levels and datum, mark the retaining wall line and paving extents, and record the set-out check in the daily inspection.
Prepare a three-week program with crew, plant and material deliveries, and book the excavator and compactor through the Plant and Equipment Register with operator competency confirmed.
Carry out and record a daily progress inspection on the Site Inspection Report Template, checking work against the specification and noting any defect to be corrected before the next stage.
Set up a cost tracking sheet against the quote for labour, plant and materials, and update it at the end of each recorded day.
When the client asks for an additional garden bed and lighting conduit, prepare a written variation with cost and program impact for approval before doing the work.
Prepare a handover checklist covering irrigation commissioning, plant establishment care and maintenance advice for the client.
